Contest Type

Revela’T Portfolio Review 2026 turns a festival visit into a concentrated working session: 18 selected photographers will present a project through 20-minute, one-to-one meetings with an expert reviewer panel. Applications close on July 30, 2026, and the review takes place in Vilassar de Dalt, near Barcelona, on October 16 during the Revela’T Contemporary Analog Photography Festival, organized by Associació Fotogràfica EspaiFoto. Each participant receives a three-hour morning or afternoon session built around direct feedback rather than a group presentation.

The open call accepts projects by photographers of any nationality or place of residence, working with analog photography or digital processes. There is no age limit, although minors must attend with a legal guardian. Every selected participant receives a Full Pass for Revela’T 2026, and one reviewed project will be produced and exhibited at the 2027 festival, with installation and an artist’s fee covered.

An application consists of 10 to 15 images, a project statement and author information. The initial fee is €25 per project, reduced to €15 for Friends of Revela’T; selected participants then pay a further €100. For photographers comparing photography contests to participate, this Revela’T Portfolio Review 2026 is closer to a focused professional-development opportunity than a conventional single-image award, with selection based on originality, concept and the project’s potential.

Prizes

The main outcomes combine individual feedback, festival access and a future exhibition opportunity.

  • One selected project: production and exhibition at Revela’T Festival 2027, including production, installation and the author’s fee.
  • All 18 selected participants: a three-hour review session on October 16, arranged as 20-minute one-to-one meetings, plus a Full Pass for the activities and exhibitions of Revela’T 2026.
  • Reserve projects: the next highest-scoring applications may be contacted if an accepted participant gives up a place.

Categories or Themes

There are no separate subject categories. The Revela’T Portfolio Review 2026 is structured around a complete photographic project, and both chemical and digital photography are eligible. Applicants may work in any subject area, provided that the images form a coherent project.

The selection criteria emphasize future potential, originality and the strength of the concept. The project’s stage of development is not considered. Individuals, duos and collectives may apply, although only one person can attend if a group project is selected. This places the call closer to portfolio photography competitions than theme-led awards.

About the Jury

The Revela’T Portfolio Review 2026 roster names 11 expert viewers, coordinated by Marc Ávila Català. They are Daniel Belinchon, Roser Cambray, Fernando Castro, Isabel Hernández, Frederic Montornés, Juan Naranjo, Silvia Omedes, Benito Padilla, Rebeca Pardo, Arianna Rinaldo and Rocio Santacruz. Their work spans museums, galleries, festivals, criticism, publishing, education and artist support.

The jury selects 18 projects, and its decisions are final. It is not required to justify individual decisions. The review activity is conducted in Spanish and English.

Why Enter Revela’T Portfolio Review 2026?

The value of this Revela’T Portfolio Review 2026 lies in the concentration of the encounter. Instead of presenting to a room, each selected photographer moves through a sequence of short conversations with professionals working across different parts of the photography field. The same project can therefore receive several readings within one morning or afternoon.

Project readiness is separated from selection potential: the stage of development is not part of the judging criteria. An applicant does not need a fully resolved exhibition, but the work must show originality, a clear idea and scope for development. Those selected must arrive with a physical edit in sizes from A5 to A3, since computers and tablets cannot be used.

Among the best photo contests, portfolio reviews occupy a specific place: their practical value lies in feedback, professional contact and possible next steps. Here, all 18 participants receive festival access, while one project advances to a funded presentation at Revela’T 2027.

Rules

  • Photographers of any nationality or place of residence may apply. Minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
  • Each project is one entry. Multiple projects are permitted, but only one may be selected and presented.
  • Duos and collectives may register, with one representative attending the review.
  • Selected applicants must accept their place within five days and pay €100 by September 15, 2026, or the place may pass to a reserve candidate.
  • Participants must attend in Vilassar de Dalt and bring the project in physical form, between A5 and A3. Computers and tablets are not allowed.

Submitted work must be created by the applicant and must not infringe third-party rights. The applicant is responsible for obtaining necessary permissions and for claims involving intellectual property or image rights.

The terms do not state that ownership of the photographs transfers to the organizer. Selected participants do authorize publication and public communication of the name supplied in their application through Revela’T websites and Instagram.
