How to Enter:

Rules
The competition is open to photographers residing anywhere in the world. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, although a parent or guardian may enter on behalf of a photographer under 18. Images must have been produced using a photographic device, including a mobile device. Experimental processes, colour and black-and-white photography, image enhancement, filters and collages are accepted.
AI-generated images are not eligible. AI tools may be used for post-production purposes, but the original image must have been captured using a photographic device. Head On may request the original RAW file or film to verify the authenticity of an entry.
Applicants may enter an unlimited number of images in each category, and there is no restriction on when an image was created. All work is judged anonymously, and the judges’ decisions are final. Entrants must own the submitted work and have any permissions required from identifiable subjects. Finalists and semi-finalists must not publicly promote their selected image before the Awards exhibitions open.
Copyright and Image Usage
Photographers retain full copyright to their images. Finalists grant Head On a non-exclusive, irrevocable, worldwide licence to reproduce and publish selected images without charge for the Awards exhibitions, the Head On Photo Festival, exhibition catalogues, associated exhibitions and promotional materials in print, digital and electronic media.
Head On will credit photographers whenever their work is used and will maintain the integrity of the images. Finalists may notify Head On by the applicable deadline if they do not want specific images reproduced for certain publicity and promotional uses.
Head On will retain one paper print of each winning and runner-up image as part of the Head On Collection in perpetuity. Finalists’ image files may be retained for five years for retrospective exhibition purposes and will be deleted at the end of that period.
