About the Jury

The 2027 jury comprises four professionals active across curation, photography, education and contemporary visual culture: Monica Allende, independent curator, creative director and educator; Victoria Ismach, curatorial coordinator at the Montevideo Centre for Photography; John Fleetwood, photography educator, curator and director of Photo: in Johannesburg; and Cale Garrido, independent curator and curator of Getxophoto.

The jury will select 12 finalist projects and three winners by mutual agreement. The selection considers artistic criteria, conceptual development and relevance to the theme, while gender parity and inclusion are also taken into account.

• Some images from selected projects may also be supplied to the press for articles or reports covering the Open Call or Getxophoto Festival without additional payment or approval.
• Submissions are archived whether or not they are selected. Entrants may revoke this consent, after which the corresponding images are deleted following the selection process.
