BBA One Shot Award 2026 puts a single image at center stage. One upload, one chance, one clear brief: show the most compelling shot in your archive and let it stop viewers in their tracks. The currently open Autumn Edition is a direct entry point into the Berlin art scene. The award is run by Berlin’s BBA Gallery and culminates in a week-long exhibition for shortlisted artists, with the winner receiving a cash prize and added visibility on Artsy and BBA’s channels. Entries are open until 28 September 2026, and the submission format is streamlined so applicants can focus on the work rather than the paperwork. If you like planning ahead across many calls, Deartline keeps track of upcoming photo challenges to participate so you can slot this deadline into your calendar.
There are no categories: any photographic subject, style or approach is welcome, including lens-based, mobile, analogue and digital work. The structure is simple: a paid single-image entry, curation by BBA, a 50-image longlist with online promotion and digital display, a 20-image shortlist that exhibits at BBA Gallery, and one overall winner. The entry fee is €19 per image. Practical benefits like 100% of production costs covered for the exhibition and no shipping are built in, which lowers friction for those submitting from outside Germany. For photographers who want a clear, competitive format with tangible outcomes, the BBA One Shot Award 2026 is straightforward and time-efficient.

Rules and Copyright
We reviewed the official rules of the BBA One Shot Award 2026 to summarize the key participation requirements, copyright terms and image usage conditions. Before entering, we recommend checking the complete rules published by the organizer.
Rules
Applicants must be 18 or older. There are no restrictions based on training or nationality. One image is submitted per entry, with additional image credits available. Photographers may be represented by a gallery, but should not submit artworks that are exclusively consigned by another gallery. BBA may reject unsuitable work at its discretion.
Submitted works must be available for sale. The terms require exclusive availability for sale throughout the exhibition and for three months afterward if sales are made through BBA Gallery. Sales processed by BBA carry a 50% commission on the retail price, with price consistency requested across sales channels.
Shortlisted artists are expected to provide high-resolution files and agree to the gallery’s presentation options, including digital display. Relatives of jury members, gallery employees and artists already represented by BBA Gallery cannot apply. The judges’ decision is final.
Copyright and Image Usage
Photographers retain full copyright. By entering, artists grant BBA a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use each submitted image worldwide in all media for the promotional purposes described in the terms, including organic and paid social media. Images may be used to promote the photographer as well as current and future BBA projects.
The permission extends to BBA Gallery, BBA Prizes, the BBA brand and its partners. Images taken during the exhibition and related events may also be used for current and future promotional activities. BBA may make small edits to submitted images when necessary to meet social media platform guidelines. The published terms do not state a duration for the license.
Applicants remain responsible for protecting their work against third-party misuse, for example by embedding metadata. Email data may be used by BBA and its sponsors for future opportunities, updates and news. No specific rule concerning AI-generated or AI-assisted photography is currently stated in the One Shot Award page, terms or FAQ.
