Architecture is the single theme, with no separate subject categories. The brief covers rural, suburban and urban architecture, including houses, skyscrapers, bridges, old and new structures, skylines, interiors and individual architectural details. Famous buildings are not required.
Any photographic process is eligible, including black and white work, image transfer, emulsion transfer and encaustic techniques, as well as experimental and mixed approaches. How to Enter
Entries are uploaded and paid for through NYC4PA’s Smarter Entry portal. JPG files are recommended, with files around 1MB described by the organizer as suitable for jury review. Smarter Entry allows larger files, but NYC4PA notes that there is no advantage to uploading unnecessarily large images at this stage.
Because the judging is blind, submitted images must not contain signatures or watermarks, and the photographer’s name should not appear in image titles. Short, unique file names without special characters are recommended so entries can be identified clearly during notification.
About the Jury
Architecture is juried by Traer Scott, an award-winning photographer and bestselling author of 15 books. Her work has appeared in publications including National Geographic, Time, Vogue and Le Monde, while her Natural History series has been presented in several museum exhibitions.
NYC4PA uses a blind jury process, so Scott reviews submitted photographs without photographers’ names appearing in the files or image titles. The organizer does not publish a more detailed set of judging criteria.

Rules
The call is open worldwide to amateur and professional photographers working in any photographic medium or style. Experimental and mixed techniques are accepted, but only two-dimensional work is eligible.
Images that received an NYC4PA Prize, Juror Selection or Honorable Mention within the previous two years cannot be entered again. Photographs previously submitted to NYC4PA but not selected may be resubmitted.
Entrants confirm that submitted images are their own work and do not infringe copyright. The photographer is responsible for having the necessary rights to each entry.
Copyright and Image Usage
Photographers retain all rights to their images. By entering, photographers grant NYC4PA the right to use submitted photographs for promotion and advertising of the organization. Images receiving a prize, Juror Selection or Honorable Mention may also be included in the NYC4PA catalog and online gallery.
The published terms do not state how long these usage rights remain in effect or specify whether the license is exclusive or non-exclusive. They also do not state whether NYC4PA may sublicense submitted photographs to third parties.
