Contest Type

AAP Magazine 55 Women is built around a simple, loaded question. What does “Women” look like when the photographer is telling a fuller story, not just catching a surface? This edition of AAP Magazine invites portfolios and cohesive bodies of work that celebrate women’s strength, labor, beauty, resilience, and presence, with a final deadline of March 3, 2026. The top awards add up to $1,000 in cash prizes, and the most visible outcome is publication in the printed AAP Magazine Volume 55: Women, plus a permanent showcase in the Winners Gallery on All About Photo’s platform.

The theme stays open in style and method. Entries can lean into fashion, nudes, documentary, portrait, sports, fine art, or commercial approaches. Both digital and analog processes are accepted, including monochromatic toning. For photographers browsing Deartline for photography challenges and competitions with a clear publishing outcome, this one stands out on facts alone: a printed issue, an online winners gallery, and a judged process that starts days after the close.

Entry is paid, with a flat starting package and the option to build a larger submission up to 40 images. That structure makes AAP Magazine 55 Women most relevant to photographers who already have a tight edit or portfolio sequence ready to submit, and who want publication and platform visibility tied directly to the results.

Prizes

AAP Magazine 55 Women combines cash awards with publication, interview coverage for the top winner, and winners-gallery visibility that remains online beyond the announcement window.

  • 1st Place: $500 cash prize, an exclusive interview, and the winning image(s) or portfolio published in AAP Magazine, Volume 55: Women.
  • 2nd Place: $300 cash prize and publication of the winning image(s) or portfolio in AAP Magazine, Volume 55: Women.
  • 3rd Place: $200 cash prize and publication of the winning image(s) or portfolio in AAP Magazine, Volume 55: Women.
  • Particular Merit Mention (4th to 25th): The next 22 ranked winners have their best image(s) or portfolio published in AAP Magazine, Volume 55: Women.

Categories or Themes

There are no separate entry categories for AAP Magazine 55 Women. The contest is organized around a single theme, “Women,” and it explicitly accepts photographs made by women or photographs about women. Because the subject is open, the deciding factor is less about fitting a genre and more about how well the images hold together as a cohesive project.

About the Jury

AAP Magazine 55 Women is juried by Sandrine Hermand-Grisel, the Founder and Editor of All About Photo and a professional photographer working in fine art photography and printmaking.

The published judging framework is blind, with images scored in an initial round and then re-scored in a second round among the highest-ranking entries, producing the final placements.

Why Enter AAP Magazine 55 Women?

AAP Magazine 55 Women offers a results path that is easy to measure before entering. The main outcome is publication in a printed AAP Magazine issue dedicated to the theme, plus online winners-gallery placement that remains visible after announcements. The competition also provides a clear ceiling and pricing structure for photographers who want to submit a small, tight edit or expand toward a full portfolio sequence up to 40 images.

It is also positioned as an international opportunity, with entry open to adults worldwide and winners promoted across All About Photo’s site and social channels. For photographers comparing opportunities on Deartline, it fits naturally alongside other options in a broader list of photography competitions, especially for those prioritizing publication and a juried selection process over category-based awards.
