This section about the rules and image rights of the Natural Landscape Photography Awards 2026 has been generated automatically. If you are interested in participating in this contest we suggest you review the complete rules provided by the contest.

Rules

  • Golden Rule: “The integrity of the subject should be maintained.” Edits should not deceive a viewer familiar with the scene/process.
  • Permitted Adjustments: Standard adjustments (White Balance, Exposure, Color, Contrast), local dodging/burning when not misleading, dust spot/flare removal, cropping, stitching panoramas, exposure bracketing, focus stacking, image stacking/averaging for technical quality, and black and white conversions.
  • Disallowed Adjustments: Compositing/introducing new elements, removing significant elements, distorting elements unnaturally, combining different focal lengths to create unrealistic scenes, combining images taken at significantly different times to create false moments, or combining the best parts of an image sequence to fabricate a ‘perfect moment’.
  • Special 2026 Considerations: NLPA has introduced specific guidance for night photography and for the new Multiple Exposure and ICM Special Award. Multiple exposure and ICM work may be eligible under clearly defined conditions, but must remain grounded in photographic source material captured by the entrant and must not create a plausible but false landscape.
  • Ethics & Legality: Adherence to Nature First Principles and local laws/park rules is required.
  • Image Requirements: Original work of the entrant. Digital or scanned film accepted. JPEG format preferred for entry. RAW files must be available for verification (with alternative verification for film or some exceptional cases). Minimum 3000px, approximately 4000px recommended on the long edge, under 8MB. No borders/watermarks.
  • Eligibility: Worldwide. No pro/amateur distinction. AI-generated images are not permitted.
