Talent Latent 2025, organized as part of SCAN, the international photography festival by Tarragona City Council, invites photographers worldwide to participate in its prestigious photography contest. This edition explores the profound theme “AQUA,” highlighting the crucial significance of water for human survival, ecosystems, cultural practices, and spirituality. Photographers are encouraged to submit series or photographic projects, including hybrid forms combining photography with other creative disciplines, offering a unique opportunity to express diverse interpretations of water.

The contest offers participants significant exposure and professional recognition. Selected projects will be showcased prominently at Tinglado 2 at the Port of Tarragona from 10 October to 7 December 2025 as the central exhibition of the SCAN festival. Each of the nine selected artists will receive €500 as compensation for copyright and exhibition fees. Additional benefits include an invitation to the festival’s opening weekend, accommodation, and professional networking opportunities.

Participation in Talent Latent 2025 is completely free, making it one of the notable free photography contests currently available for emerging and established photographers alike. Entries must be submitted before 31 March 2025, with the selected artists notified by May 2025. Renowned curator Diana Padrón will oversee the selection process, evaluating submissions based on conceptual integrity, artistic merit, and the ability to engage critically with the theme.

To participate, photographers must submit a concise biography, project description, and a series of up to 18 photographs via an online registration form available on the contest website. All materials should be in digital format, with an option to include supplementary information in PDF format to facilitate the jury’s understanding. Talent Latent 2025’s commitment to high-quality exhibition production and the associated professional benefits position it favorably among the best online photography challenges today.
