This year, the contest has introduced several new features, including a People’s Choice category where the public can vote for their favorite photograph. The main categories include single images and series entries, with 20 single images and two series chosen as winners. Winning photographers will have their work showcased in group exhibitions at the renowned 10.14 Gallery in London and the Glasgow Gallery of Photography, bringing their artistry to a broad audience. In partnership with Nikon, the photographers of the two winning series will also receive a Nikon Z Series mirrorless camera and two NIKKOR Z lenses of their choice, making this contest a highly coveted opportunity in the photography world.

The Female in Focus 2024 prizes
The Female in Focus 2024 contest offers a range of prizes: the Series Category will award two winning series with exhibitions at 10.14 Gallery in London and Glasgow Gallery of Photography. Each series winner will receive a Nikon Z Series mirrorless camera along with two NIKKOR Z lenses of their choice. For the first time, Female in Focus 2024 introduces the People’s Choice Award, where the public can vote for their favorite photograph. The winner of this category will be interviewed and featured on 1854.photography, discussing their creative process and the story behind their winning work.
The categories of the Female in Focus 2024
Participants in the Female in Focus 2024 contest can submit their work in two main categories:
- Single Image Category: This category is for individual photographs that capture the essence of the theme “Renewal.” Twenty winning images will be selected for exhibition.
- Series Category: This category allows participants to submit a cohesive series of images. The series should narrate a story or concept around the theme of “Renewal,” exploring transformation, revival, and new beginnings. Two winning series will be selected.
In addition to these categories, the People’s Choice Award will offer the public the chance to engage with the contest by voting for their favorite image from the exhibition. The People’s Choice winner will receive additional exposure and recognition on 1854.photography.
