The Overall Winner of Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2024: "Red Bean Paste Balls", by Zhonghua Yang.
Chinese photographer Zhonghua Yang took home the top prize with his mesmerizing image titled “Red Bean Paste Balls.” The photograph captures a woman entering a room, adding her latest creation to a mountain of steaming dim sum. The scene is set during the preparations for the Spring Festival (Lunar New Year) in Xiangshan, Zhejiang. The exquisite food contrasts beautifully with the angular fretwork screens, creating a play of light and shadow. Yang’s image perfectly embodies the spirit of celebration and culinary craftsmanship.
The frame is filled with a rich tapestry of tradition and craftsmanship, as preparations for the feast include the preparation of dim sum, a significant aspect of Lunar New Year celebrations.
